Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise (PDSE) is an award-winning Community Interest Company that provides NHS treatment and outreach services to local communities in Devon and Cornwall. As a social enterprise, we are a values driven organisation with a focus on patient-centred care and addressing local oral health needs. We work closely with the University of Plymouth’s Peninsula Dental School to support the clinical education of its dental healthcare students.
We are looking to recruit dentists to join our growing team, initially based in our Plymouth facilities but we have an ambition to expand into a new Dental Education Practice (DEP) in Plymouth City Centre, in the next few years and are looking for enthusiastic and forward-thinking clinicians to support this ambition. The DEP will provide an innovative model of care comprising urgent and stabilisation dental care, and general and specialist dentistry delivered alongside placements for undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as trainees undertaking dental foundation training.
These roles would suit candidates who wish to develop their careers and skills further, and we are particularly interested in candidates who wish to become dental foundation trainers for dentistry and therapy. Funding is available for postgraduate training up to MSc level for successful candidates who wish to advance their clinical skills, in addition to the current benefits package.
Successful candidates will work alongside University dental staff including specialists in minor oral surgery in a multidisciplinary clinical environment which offers full clinical support.
If you are looking for a new challenge and to be part of an exciting new model, this is a truly unique opportunity to work in a new way with lots of opportunities for leadership and clinical development.
This role includes:
- Highly competitive salaries
- Contracts for 1-5 days per week (7.5 – 37.5 hours)
- Trainers grant available if supervising dental foundation training
- Paid Indemnity Insurance
- Opportunity to claim back professional registration fees
- Free PPE and scrub top/trousers
- Access to a free online CPD platform
- Access to our Employee Assistance Programme
- Access to the Scottish Widows pension scheme with generous employer contributions
- Generous holiday entitlement, increasing after 5 years’ service
- Access to our Cycle to Work Scheme
- 100% of lab fees paid
- Senior clinician support and advice
- Access to digital X-Rays/CBCT
- Support to develop your skills and career
Dentists and Therapists must be registered with the GDC. In addition, Dentists must have completed Dental Foundation training and hold a valid NHS performer number.
