Widening Horizons is a programme run by ‘Millfields Inspired’, a charity focussing on Year 5 Students in the Stonehouse area of Plymouth. The programme is about getting young people out into work settings and giving inspiration for future career choices.
The Community Engagement Team worked collaboratively with ‘Millfields Inspired’ to create a fun and interesting session where our visitors got ‘hands on’ in the dental environment and gained an overview into the world of Dentistry.
Members of the Dental team were able to advise participants on career choices and give a helpful insight into the variety of dental careers available.
Participants come away with:
- An awareness of different career choices in available within a dental team.
- Knowledge of names of the different teeth and their functions
- An understanding why cross infection control is important
- Awareness of key oral health messages
- Positive contact with dental team
