A number of staff from the Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise attended the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show at the NEC last month.
The two-day CPD training and education conference is the UK’s largest free to attend, education and trade event for the dental profession. Eight staff members volunteered to attend this year’s conference.
Marsha Hughes, Exeter Dental Nurse and Safeguarding Coordinator said: “My first time attending the Dentistry Show was informative, busy and fun. This event is a great opportunity to talk to a wide range of Dental Professionals and to bring the knowledge gained back to share with other Peninsula Dental staff.”
Each attendee, as well as their own full time employed role at PDSE, have also taken on additional responsibilities across the organisation recently: Tracey Ruff is a Derriford Clinic Team Leader and CQC Manager, Kelly Harbinson is a Derriford Dental Nurse and Sedation Coordinator, Louise Carr is a Devonport Dental Nurse and Radiation Protection Supervisor, Leesa Bates is a Derriford Dental Nurse and Consumables Lead, Marsha Hughes is an Exeter Dental Nurse and Safeguarding Coordinator, Jessica Doolan is an Exeter Dental Nurse and Infection Control Coordinator, Rebecca Anderson is Clinical Governance and Operations Manager and Rebecca Henderson is HR Advisor.
Rebecca Henderson added: “The Dentistry Show provides a great opportunity to learn about a range of subjects. For me the focus on dentistry in a wider non-clinical context is useful for putting what is learnt into practice.”
Continuous Professional Development is highly important to Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise and staff are encouraged to actively seek out opportunities to enhance their CPD in their own relevant clinical or business administrative areas by attending training days, conferences or gaining industry recognised qualifications.
