Student awarded the winning article in the Dental Update Undergraduate Writing Competition 2025

A Year 5 BDS student from Peninsula Dental School, Ioan Phillips, was recently awarded the winning article in the Dental Update Undergraduate Writing Competition 2025 for the article: “Rehabilitation of an edentulous patient with a severely resorbed ridge using the piezography technique: a case report.“.

The clinical case report describes “the successful management of a patient with severe mandibular ridge atrophy using the piezography technique for complete denture construction”. Read the full winning article here.

Ioan commented: “I am very proud to have won the case report competition. I wanted to share how the piezography technique can help clinicians manage complex cases like this one and ultimately improve patient comfort and function. I also hope it inspires other students to push the boundaries of clinical practice.”
