Our new Dental Education Practice is located at 71 New George Street in Plymouth City Centre, and opened on 9th February 2026. This state-of-the-art facility will deliver urgent dental care and increase access to much needed dental services for the people of Plymouth and surrounding areas, while providing experience for the next generation of dentists in training and opportunities for foundation and postgraduate dental education.
The facility contains 13 single surgeries which will be occupied on rotation by final-year students from the University of Plymouth’s Dental Surgery and Dental Therapy and Hygiene programmes, working under the close supervision of qualified dental professionals called Clinical Supervisors. Alongside a team of qualified Clinicians, including Dental Therapists, Dentists, a Dentist in Foundation Core Training (JDFCT), and a Foundation Dentist.
The facility will provide urgent care and stabilisation services, delivered by both qualified Clinicians and supervised undergraduate students. In addition, an IMOS service will be delivered by a Specialist in Oral Surgery. As with all of our undergraduate clinics, treatment provided by students is offered free of charge to patients, whereas some treatment delivered by qualified Clinicians may be subject to standard NHS charges.
Appointments will only be offered through a booking system. Patients without a dentist in need of urgent dental care should contact NHS 111 (call 111 or visit Get help for your symptoms – NHS 111). The practice will not be a ‘walk in’ service and patients will not be able to book an appointment by attending the site. Please note, routine dental care and a permanent dental home will not be available at the Practice. For patients without a dentist who are looking to register as a patient with PDSE for routine treatment at another of our facilities, this can be done through the website, here, when our waiting lists are open.
